Principles Encourage Social Responsibility and Sustainability
Dubai, United Arab Emirates: ARAMEX, one of the world's leading total transportation solutions providers, has announced its participation in the United Nations 'Global Compact' initiative, a platform created to engage the private sector in positive global corporate practices.
Collaborating with both profit and non-profit organizations, the worldwide movement has encouraged thousands of influential businesses around the world to adopt sustainable and socially responsible policies in regards to human rights, labor, the environment, transparency and anti-corruption.
"Sustainability is the way of the future, it requires commitment and innovation to develop and integrate into the daily practice of organizations" said Fadi Ghandour, Founder and CEO of Aramex, the first company in the region to issue a sustainability report and amongst the fist to join the UN's Global Compact initiative.
"By signing onto this initiative, Aramex is validating its long-term commitment to the community and the environment and reaffirming its leadership within the industry," Ghandour added.
Concerned with the human contribution to global warming, Aramex has already set an ambitious goal to become the first carbon neutral total transportation provider worldwide.
In 2006 Aramex published 'Aramex Values and Principles', an internal document on Code of Conduct which demonstrates its compatibility with the objectives of the Global Compact across ethical, economic, environmental and social dimensions.
Aramex plans to work with other highly respected organizations to initiate a multi stakeholder project toward the goals of transparency, and the reduction of bribery and corruption to ensure a level playing field for all companies.
