Manama – Arabian Gulf University (AGU): AGU emissary, Dr Reem Al Ansari, presented a scientific research paper at Harvard University – one of the most prestigious universities in the world - as part of a Masters’ Research Conference organised for post-graduate students.
She discussed a research paper titled ‘Teaching methods to deal with negative emergency news in light of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic’.
This comes after the Higher Education Committee at Harvard University selected Dr Al Ansari’s project from several projects competing to present at the university’s annual scientific research conference.
Dr Al Ansari discussed the goals and results of her scientific project in the presence of a large gathering of Harvard University faculty in addition to doctors and specialists in the field.
She presented her multi-methodological research during the conference where she highlighted that she collected, analysed and merged the results of quantitative research with qualitative research.
Dr Al Ansari revealed that her research included the creation of a newly developed one-of-a-kind scientific intervention method to teach communication skills between doctor and patient based on approved theoretical frameworks.
Her project is based on three main axes, the first of which is an assessment of the needs in order to set the goals, the second is a focus on experiential learning while the third axis is known as ‘Andragogy’.
It is noteworthy to mention that Dr Al Ansari was previously selected as part of a teaching team for one of the main courses of medical education and global health programmes as she recently participated in teaching the medical research curriculum course.
Dr Al Ansari is now pursuing an academic and research programme under the supervision of mentors from Harvard University through which she conducts in depth research in the field of medical education as part of collaborative efforts between AGU and Harvard University.
AGU sent Dr Al Ansari last year to Harvard University as part of 10 accepted applicants from around the world and the United States for the advanced master’s programme in medical education at Harvard University.
Dr Al Ansari’s AGU scholarship is within a plan to prepare Gulf researchers and academic cadres at the hands of the top international experts in order to continue the university’s scientific and academic development journey.
AGU has followed this approach since its establishment through which many personnel – who currently hold advanced academic and administrative positions in various scientific sectors – were sent on scholarships.
These continuous achievements for AGU emissaries at Harvard University shed light on the capabilities of GCC female scientists and their distinction on the frontlines from within many nationalities present Harvard University.
AGU spares no effort in carefully selecting its emissaries while also preparing them at high levels to ensure their empowerment and qualifications to secure academic seats at the most prestigious international universities.
