Dubai Waterfront
Dubai Waterfront this week welcomed a high profile delegation from the Arab-British Chamber of Commerce, with the aim of increasing links between the world's largest waterfront development and the organisation devoted to the encouragement of Arab-British trade and economic co-operation.
The delegation, led by Sir Roger Tomkys, Chairman of the Arab-British Chamber of Commerce met with Khaled Al Huraimel, General Manager of Madinat Al Arab, the landmark first district of Dubai Waterfront and discussed the project at length, particularly focussing on the wealth of investment opportunities for members of the Chamber of Commerce. The visitors also received a tour of Nakheel's Sales Centre and a theatre presentation about Nakheel's developments, including The Palm and The World.
Founded in 1975, the Arab-British Chamber of Commerce offers a wide range of services to both Arab and British companies already involved in or planning to become a part of a long-standing bilateral trading relationship. The Chamber works in close co-operation with Arab businesses and legal organisations and has developed strong links with British business.
Sir Roger Tomkys became Chairman of the Chamber in 2004. He has a distinguished diplomatic career, having held posts in a number of Arabic countries, including Jordan and Bahrain. In addition, in his time in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, he focussed on Middle Eastern issues and has been a President of the British Society for Middle Eastern Studies and a member of the Management Committee for the Council for the Advancement of Arab British Understanding.
On his visit to Dubai Waterfront, Sir Roger Tomkys said, "I was enormously impressed by the various projects being run by Nakheel and Dubai Waterfront. The Arab-British Chamber of Commerce will do all that it can to ensure that British participation is included in the development of these projects, and build on the already strong relations between the UAE and the UK".
Khaled Al Huraimel, General Manager of Madinat Al Arab said, "It was an honour to host Sir Roger Tomkys and to discuss furthering links between Dubai Waterfront and the Chamber which is a valuable organisation for strengthening the bonds between businesses in the UK and Dubai. There is great potential for cooperation between our two organisations and I am sure we will be working closely in the future."
