3M Healthcare and Sheikh Khalifa Medical City facilitate acclaimed Associations' establishment in the country

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, September 4, 2012 - The Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) has announced the introduction of its UAE chapter which is supported by 3M, a recognized leader in research and development and Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC), managed by Cleveland Clinic, part of the SEHA Health System that is owned and operated by Abu Dhabi Health Services Company PJSC (SEHA).

APIC, the leading professional association for infection preventionists (IPs) with more than 14,000 members around the world is a highly regarded professional entity for the infection prevention professionals globally. Following the election of the APIC UAE chapter members held in an earlier meeting in Abu Dhabi, APIC UAE organized the second chapter meeting today at 3M's Innovation Center facility in Dubai.

The association's UAE chapter meeting held in Dubai was attended by heads of infection prevention divisions from major hospitals around the UAE along with more than twenty delegates which included infection control heads, infection control practitioners, infection preventionists, microbiologists and CSSD managers from across the country.

Commenting on the commencement of APIC's UAE chapter, Stefan Weber, President of the chapter said, "At APIC, we are on a mission to create a safer world through prevention of infection as the healthcare system has reached a critical juncture between patient safety, infection prevention and quality of care. The key objective for APIC's second chapter meeting held at 3M innovation center was for the group to meet and review key topics which included further organization of future activities related to scientific education, clinical best practice sharing and development for the future. APIC's each meeting will be presided over by one key speaker who will also moderate an open discussion about current issues, requirements and future actions.
