First Conference on Anterior Restoration Highlights Oral and Cosmetic Aspects of Front Teeth

Abu Dhabi - UAE: 12 January 2013 - Ambulatory Healthcare Services (AHS), a part of the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA), held its first dental conference on concepts of anterior restoration.

The day-long conference, attended by dental professionals in Abu Dhabi, is the first of a seven-part series planned by the AHS Continuing Medical Education Committee for advancing the dental care practice in the emirate.

In the presence of Dr. Ninette Banday, Head of Dental Services, AHS and Dr. Jamal Kachouh, Continuous Medical Education Committee Member, AHS, the conference was led by Dr. Joseph Sabbagh, Assistant Professor, Department of Conservative and Aesthetic Dentistry and Director of Postgraduate Program at the Lebanese University, Beirut. In his presentation, Dr Sabbagh offered a theoretical and practical approach to the field of restorative dentistry including sessions on recent concepts in anterior restorations, advantages of direct composite, direct restorative procedure and criteria of shade selection. The conference was complemented by a practical workshop for the participating healthcare professionals.

Rashid Saif Al Qubaisi, Chief Executive Officer, AHS, said: "We believe that CME is a core component of the continuing growth and development of healthcare services in Abu Dhabi, and these conferences are a frontward step in the direction of achieving dental care excellence as part of our ongoing mission to providing healthier and better lives for our community."

The first conference aimed to cultivate and appraise the oral and cosmetic knowledge of dental care professionals, by stressing on the clinical and social significance of front teeth. Studies have shown that the front teeth are highly vulnerable to decay and fracture, particularly in teenagers and children, and ultimately require anterior restorations.

Dr. Latifa Al Ketbi, Continuous Professional Development Manager, AHS, said: "Enhancing and developing the quality of health care services in the country requires ongoing support from government organizations and healthcare professionals. Our committee has adopted the responsibility of improving the performance of healthcare providers that was initiated through the dental conferences on anterior restorations. We are pleased to have witnessed the success of the first conference and look forward to launching more CME accredited conferences in the future."

AHS is a unique outpatient care concept from SEHA that aims to offer easy access to primary and specialist patient care, including comprehensive laboratory and modern diagnostic facilities.  AHS is responsible for operating school health services, disease prevention and screening centers, mobile clinic solutions and ambulatory care centers across Abu Dhabi. The CME committee was launched to improve the quality of health care services in the UAE.
