Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C (Alba)'s status as both an industrial powerhouse and a flagship of Bahrain's non-oil sector provided a rallying point to groups of school students visiting the plant in the second half of 2012 as part of their educational excursion.
The students were from various schools in Bahrain and visited Alba between the months of October and December. The school visits were part of Alba's drive to promote aluminium as a career option for Bahrain's youngsters as well as offer them insights into what values enabled the company to transform itself into one of the world's leading smelters.
Al Hidaya Al Khalifia School, Hamad Town Secondary School, Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Technology Institute, Al Noor International School, Al Jabiriya Secondary Industrial School, and Khawla Secondary Girls' School, were some of the schools whose students visited Alba, as well as Ahliya University and University of Bahrain.
Commenting on the visit of the school students to the plant, Alba's Human Resources Manager, Abdul Rahman Janahi, said:
"As one of the leading companies in Bahrain as well as one of the world's leading aluminium producers, Alba is always proud to welcome students to the plant, and share with them some of the company's success stories. These educational trips also provide opportunities to inspire students to consider aluminium as a career option. it is our wish that they achieve success in whatever professional path they undertake."
The students from each of the schools were given an extended tour around different facilities of the plant. They were also given a brief presentation of Alba's product portfolio, environmental commitment, safety policies, adherence to quality, corporate social responsibility initiatives and contribution to Bahrain's economy.
