Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba)'s commitment to safety received an impetus when the company's training fire engineer, Mohammed Khalil Saeed became the first person in Bahrain to successfully complete the Fire Safety Building Regulations and Guidance (FSBRG) course at the Fire Service College at Moreton in Marsh, Gloucestershire, United Kingdom.

Training alongside officers from the UK Fire & Rescue Service who are also employed in a fire safety role, Mr Saeed received an in-depth coverage of current fire safety building regulations.  He demonstrated his understanding of this guidance by assessment, individual presentations and also as a syndicate member to provide effective solutions to the problematic exercises included in the course curriculum.

Commenting on Mohammed Khalil Saeed's achievement, Alba's Chief Executive, Laurent Schmitt said:

"I like to congratulate Mohammed Khalil Saeed on his remarkable achievement, which will support Alba's on-going safety initiatives and strengthen the company's commitment to develop a safe working environment. Being the first in Bahrain to complete this intensive course is a matter of pride for all of us, and clearly demonstrates the high professional standards of our Bahraini employees who can match the best in the world."

The Fire Service College is the largest single provider of specialist operational fire and rescue training in the UK. It offers a broad range of programmed and customised learning and development opportunities, consultancy and advice.

On completion of the course Mohammed Khalil Saeed commented that, although intensive, it added excellent value to his existing knowledge by providing understanding and experience in fire safety requirements.  During his time at the College, he found that he benefited from the group exercises and assignments and was impressed by the excellent lecturers who not only delivered the information clearly, but also participated in discussions and the sharing of ideas with the delegates.
