· The Alba Board of Directors took part in a "Building Better Boards Workshop" on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at the Hotel Sofitel Bahrain Zallaq Thalassa Sea & Spa.

· The "Building Better Boards Workshop" was conducted by the GCC Board Directors Institute.

· The Workshop was aimed at enhancing the Board of Directors' capabilities in enhancing corporate governance

Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba)'s commitment towards strengthening transparency and corporate governance were further bolstered by a workshop held on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 for Alba's Board of Directors at the Hotel Sofitel Bahrain Zallaq Thalassa Sea & Spa.

"Building Better Boards Workshop" - organised in cooperation with the GCC Board Directors Institute - comprised several modules geared towards strengthening the Board of Directors performance, one of Alba's core priorities to be in line with international best practices.

The Chairman of Alba's Board of Directors, Mahmood Hashim Al Kooheji said: 

"Alba remains keen to promote and strengthen transparency and corporate governance across the organisation. This workshop is geared towards enhancing the capabilities of Alba's Board of Directors in corporate governance, improving the effectiveness of their interactions both in the boardroom and outside, enabling them to deliver on performance and leadership, as well as maintaining an inspirational role not only for the management but also for all of Alba's employees."

Dr. Abdulla Al Abdul Gader, Executive Director of GCC Board Directors Institute added:

"GCC Board Directors Institute is encouraged to work alongside leading companies such as Alba in forging enhanced corporate governance and in contributing to the dialogue on how to continuously improve it in the region."

The GCC Board Directors Institute was launched in 2007 by a group of large corporations and professional advisory firms with the explicit goal to support better corporate governance through building board members' capabilities. The workshop modules were conducted by a distinguished faculty, and included Peter Breen from Heiderick & Struggles; Mehmet Darendeli from McKinsey & Company; Steve Drake and Gavin Steel from PricewaterhouseCoopers; and Khalid Garousha from Allen & Overy.
