In line with Abu Dhabi University's mission of nurturing student talents, the University has recently launched a new student-oriented social platform titled "MyADU.net". The unique website which caters to students and graduates was created, designed and launched as a collaborative effort between a team of talented Abu Dhabi University students and the University's Student Engagement and Development Office (SEDO). The website features student blogs, sports articles, car, book and movie reviews, an updated event calendar of Abu Dhabi's cultural scene and the ADU E-Souq.
Handling the project since its inception, Mahmoud Khalil SEDO's Communication Development Coordinator explained that the aim of launching MyADU.net was offer students and graduates a unique experience in the form of an integrated platform for social networking that will enrich student life. "The website was a great opportunity for us to nurture and enhance student talents and creativity, whether it is through web design and development, creative writing, video editing or photography", added Khalil.
"Created by students for students, MyADU.net is a great way for students to interact with each other through posting blogs, articles and participating in various competitions. It also offers them the opportunity to get involved with Abu Dhabi University student clubs, Abu Dhabi University Student Council and Abu Dhabi University Ambassadors", said Mahmoud Khalil.
Khawla Haroon, a student at Abu Dhabi University's College of Business Administration and one of MyADU.net's creative writers found it to be a great outlet for perfecting her writing skills. "Writing and editing materials for the website was a refreshing challenge that took my skills to new horizons. The blogs and articles vary in content according to student interests, and that encouraged many of the University students to contribute to the development of the website on a daily basis".
Ahmed Zetouny, one of MyADU.net's Web Developers and a student in the College of Engineering and Computer Science asserted that the work on the website began more than a year ago. Since that time, team members have worked closely with the University's Student Engagement and Development Office in studying and researching the wide spectrum of student interests that need to be included in MyADU.net. "We collected a lot of data that was integrated into an excellent platform for social networking between students. The feedback we received was overwhelming and extremely positive", said Ahmed.
"This website gave us the opportunity to create a dynamic, modern and easy to use networking platform that is fully integrated with social media networks to give students a better and unique experience. MyADU.net deals with various topics that attract students' attention and meets their social and cultural interests in addition to offering them a wide range of extra-curricular activities. It also reflects Abu Dhabi University's vision and commitment to enrich campus life", explained Abu Dhabi University's College of Business Administration student Fatima Abdul Kader.
Shadi Kabbesh, a student in the College of Engineering and Computer Science pointed out that working on the website was divided into several stages, to also include all the activities and events organized by Abu Dhabi University throughout the academic year.
