Government and private companies from Abu Dhabi are participating
'Virtual stands' being used to facilitate e-meetings between job-seekers and employers
Abu Dhabi, 3 July, 2013
Private and public sector employers of Abu Dhabi are meeting up with world-class local, national and global talent via the 2013 e-Fair, the latest edition of the emirate's leading online recruitment exhibition which ends tomorrow (4 July). The three day e-Fair is providing employers and job-seekers with an easy, convenient and real-time platform to meet via the website: efair.abudhabi.ae/. The website is available in Arabic, English and French languages.
The annual virtual career fair, in its 4th edition, has been developed by Abu Dhabi Systems and Information Centre (ADSIC), the government entity in charge of the ICT agenda in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. e-Fair serves as an online medium for connecting Abu Dhabi's employers with top talent from around the world interested in building a career in the emirate. It is an extension of www.jobsabudhai.ae (JAD), Abu Dhabi's leading job search engine and portal.
Dr. Ahmed Al Hashimi, Project Manager at the Abu Dhabi Systems & Information Centre, said, "Abu Dhabi is one of the fastest growing business hubs of the region with large, medium and small companies, both in the private and public sectors, all playing an equally significant role. To sustain this momentum and development, attracting and employing the right talent is key. The career e-Fair initiative was introduced to fulfill the requirement of employers and job-seekers within the framework of Abu Dhabi's growing, technology-led economy where time is of essence and sourcing world-class talent is paramount."
Al Hashimi said, "The e-Fair is part of our commitment to facilitate recruitment of local, regional and international top-talent in Abu Dhabi. Designed to serve as an effective and efficient solution to meet the demand of Abu Dhabi's job market, the virtual career fair benefits both employers and job-seekers. It saves time and money through uploading and browsing multiple resumes from the comfort of their homes and offices. It offers employers access to qualified candidates and maximum flexibility in scheduling interviews, while job candidates can decide in advance by browsing targeted companies online ahead of time. The live-chat feature essentially makes it possible for both parties to meet and get to know each other."
Last year, 55,000 jobseekers from around the world and 35 entities participated in the event. The e-Fair attracts qualified people with special needs and women who can apply for jobs and pursue meaningful careers from their own homes or any place where there is Internet access.
Interested organizations and job seekers registered their interest on the e-Fair website, while participating companies are advertising job vacancies; using filtering tools to get the right candidates; interacting directly with applicants through online chat, voice or video conferencing; or using advanced and accurate reporting tools to measure participation performance.
Similarly, job seekers can upload their resumes for potential employers; get information about the culture, objectives and values of any exhibiting company; interact directly with employers and recruiters through online chat, voice or video conferencing; view the latest jobs from top employers in Abu Dhabi; submit their resumes to a company of interest; or directly apply for multiple jobs.
A unique feature of the fair is that it includes virtual areas where companies can establish an interactive online presence by developing a customized virtual model of their company 'stands' and posting an unlimited number of vacancies in the "Job Opportunity" section, upload to two video presentations; and conduct text, video chat or video conference sessions at the booth. bearing the corporate logos of exhibitors are located.
Jobseekers can visit the virtual stands just as they would in regular exhibitions and interact directly with potential employers daily from 8 am to 4 pm throughout the e-Fair which ends tomorrow (4 July).
Major employers participating in the 2013 e-Fair include the Western Region Development Council, Abu Dhabi Police, National Bank of Abu Dhabi, the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce, and the Al Ain Municipality, Abu Dhabi Ports Company, Advanced integrated Systems, Abu Dhabi University, Abu Dhabi systems and information Centre, and Al Ain Wildlife.
e-Fair 2013 is supported by 'Diamond Sponsor' Abu Dhabi Police; 'Platinum Sponsor' Abu Dhabi Ports Company; 'Gold Sponsors' Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Etihad Rail; and Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) as 'Energy Pioneers' Partner.
Commentary from employers who participated at e-Fair 2012:
We participated at the e-Fair event in 2011 and 2012. The idea of using technology to communicate with job seekers and respond to their concerns about the current vacancies in our organization is an excellent idea. e-Fair was an easy, time-saving method for me to contact many job seekers without leaving my office. Also, the technical support that I received from the JAD team was amazing.
Abu Dhabi Ports Company has participated in the past three career e-Fairs hosted by Jobs Abu Dhabi. Each year the technology gets more efficient and user friendly. The growth of visitors has been remarkable and our booth got visits that led to the recruitment of competent staff. What makes it great is that our team does not need to leave their offices to attend the fair so work disruption is minimal and candidates are linked directly to our website and our career portal. Our database has grown significantly as a result of these fairs. ADPC looks forward to this year's online career fair and we have no doubt it will be another huge success.
