Dubai, UAE - Chevrolet is carving out a real reputation for providing buyers with exciting and reliable vehicles in every size and shape imaginable. The new 2008 Avalanche arrives in the Middle East in mid October as a welcome addition to further strengthen Chevrolet's portfolio.

Aimed at pleasure-seeking drivers who want more from their vehicle than just comfortable commuting between the office and home, emphasis for the Avalanche is placed on getting much more: more from your life, more from your car and more for your money. The 2008 Avalanche is an appealing option for customers looking for maximum flexibility in their vehicle.

The Avalanche brings the best of two separate worlds. The powerful SUV not just provides more comfort, interior appointments, roominess, smoothness and quietness, but at the same time with up to a maximum 2.5 metres of cargo length in the open tray and a mighty 5.3-litre V8 engine, the Avalanche is also a true-blue pick up.

Based on GM's full-size GMT900 truck platform, which also serves Chevrolet's class-leading Tahoe and Suburban, the 2008 Avalanche is available in LS, LT and LTZ models and comes with a powerful, streamlined look, particularly with the steeply raked windscreen.

The front end features Chevrolet's signature body-coloured bar and golden bow-tie logo. Large, aerodynamic headlights have bright metallic reflectors which gives the Avalanche its aggressive styling.  A wide track gives the 2008 Avalanche a poised balance, especially with the 17-, 18- or 20-inch tyres that fill the wheel housings.

The 2008 Avalanche's interior is one of the best ever to have come out of the Chevrolet stable, in terms of materials, comfort, visibility and build. The pick up offers an expansive feel with an instrument panel that sits low and curves away from the driver and passenger. Premium materials and a new low-gloss finish give the interior a rich, high-quality look and feel, while the exceptional interior build means that instrument panel gaps have been reduced significantly.

The 2008 Avalanche also offers a host of convenience features, including Ultrasonic Rear Parking Assist and remote vehicle starting. For the driver's relief from everyday traffic, the Avalanche has a CD/MP3-compatible radio, DVD entertainment system that includes an 8-inch screen. Passengers can derive comfort from firm seats with bigger bolsters, and the driver's seat is available with six-way power adjustment.

The pick up arrives in the Middle East with vibrant exterior colour options: Blue Granite Metallic, Deep Ruby Metallic, Gray Stone Metallic, Dark blue Metallic, Summit White, Gold Mist Metallic, Sun Burst Orange II, Silver Birch Metallic, and Victory Red Metallic.

For long haul journeys or a trip to the beach, the rear seat enables easy access to the Midgate system. The seat folds flat, allowing longer items to be carried between the cargo bed and into the rear passenger compartment. Storage compartments alongside the cargo box provide ample and lockable space, and they also have drains so they can be filled with ice and used as coolers.

The 2008 Avalanche is a vehicle for the sheer pleasure of driving, and the 5.3-litre V8 Vortec engine provides all the power a full-size pick-up buyer demands. The unit delivers a lusty 355 bhp at 5,400 rpm, while 505 Nm of torque at 4,600 rpm gives it some real pulling power, without sacrificing its class-leading fuel efficiency.

These days, the name Chevrolet has become synonymous with vehicles that are as fun as they are well engineered, and much of this reputation is down to the Avalanche, an SUV that brings owners so much more.
