Al Safeer Group unveils its most exciting project
Sharjah: Al Safeer Group yesterday unveiled its most ambitious project: Safeer Mall. The 1.2-million sq. ft. shopping complex was inaugurated by His Excellency Sheikh Tariq Bin Faisal Al Qassimi, Chairman, Sharjah Economic Development Department. Joining His Excellency at the grand opening were J. P. Kalwani, Chairman and CEO, Al Safeer Group, and Mahesh J. Kalwani, Executive Director, Al Safeer Group.
Strategically located on the Dubai-Sharjah highway, near Al Khan interchange, Safeer Mall houses 130 speciality stores. The three-level mall offers shoppers a diverse range of products - from electronics and telecommunications to jewellery, fashion and home furnishings. Among the major retail brands present at Safeer Mall are The Raymond Shop, Mikyajy, Sun & Sand Sports, Nayomi, Telephonika, Damas, Jacky's Express, Better Life, Cellucom, Hang Ten, Al Sayegh Brothers (LG), Foyoun, Rasasi Perfumes, Silverline (Shoe Mart), Home Mart, Discount Centre and Value Time (Rivoli).
Retail is one of the fastest growing sectors in the UAE, spurred on by increased tourism traffic, said Mr. Kalwani. "These are exciting times for retail players like us. The opening of Safeer Mall is in line with our regional growth plans and aim to become a formidable player in mall retailing in the region," he said.
One of the major anchors of the mall is 'Space City', one of the largest indoor themed family amusement centres in the UAE. Occupying the entire top floor of Safeer Mall, covering an area of 100,000-sq. ft., Space City has entertainment options for the whole family, counting among its attractions 10 thrilling rides and over a 100 electronic games.
10 mind boggling rides some of which may be termed as only-one-of-its-kind: Satellite Coaster, Lunar Express, Orbiter, Space Flight, Space Train, Space Wheel, Jumping Star, Swing Ride, Bumper Boat and Bumper Car, and over a 100 thrilling electronic games.
Visitors to Space City will be able to experience the Lunar Express - a fast, vertical ride with a capacity to seat 48, and the Satellite Coaster, featuring a rotating carriage system that reaches a height of nine meters. The Orbiter - a massive octopus style ride with a gravity-propelled contra-rotating carriage, is also expected to become a popular choice.
Space City reflects a futuristic theme, complete with asteroids, meteors, space ships, Galactica Soldiers, devilish space creatures, and the friendly alien, C2. There is also a dedicated race track for remote controlled race machines - Tamiya Mini 4WD and Kyosho Mini Z Racer, new generation palm-sized RC racing machines that feature a compact mini-receiver with built-in speed controller.
Visitors to the mall can also expect to see an impressive, 20-minute laser show from Hungary that synchronizes smoke, multi-colour laser beams, six-track music, fog, and lights. Special performances by jugglers, musicians, magicians, face painters and balloon sculptors are also being planned.
