Bahrain - Vape juices could undergo extensive tests before being granted entry into Bahrain as they reportedly contain harmful chemicals and narcotics.

MPs voted unanimously on the move during Parliament’s weekly session yesterday, after two members presented evidence from across the region and studies from across the world about the risks of the popular juices.

Ammar Al Bannai claimed the vape industry was a cover to spread addictive chemicals and narcotics among the users.

“The liquids used for vapes are reconstituted in a way to ensure they don’t constitute as hazardous materials and drugs,” he said.

“Tests from the region and the world have proven that 800 liquids are stronger than Tramadol and some are stronger than heroin which could cause hallucination, among other problems, and could kill in case of an overdose.”

Dr Hisham Al Asheeri said several vape juice products arriving in the region are being tampered with.

“Most of the flavours come from countries known for dubious products; they are being advertised and promoted and appeal to the younger generation.”

Acting Parliament chairman Abdulnabi Salman said only stringent tests can prove which products are fake or dangerous.
