Hundreds of public transactions were carried out by the Southern Municipality last year under the ‘Municipality at Your Door’ initiative.
Almost 400 services were delivered to the customers’ homes following online transactions.
Services included delivering garbage bags, receiving complaints, connecting electricity, requests for building permits in addition to other licensing services.
“The transactions were implemented through a fully-equipped municipal vehicle that contains a computer linked to the municipality’s systems and a specialised employee familiar with all the services,” said the municipality in a statement yesterday.
“The vehicle was also equipped with all the necessary forms for all the required services to ensure the best use of time and effort.
“The municipality started by providing 16 services that citizens needed such as receiving complaints, following up on violations, licences in addition to public road occupations and other services.”
The initiative aims to deliver the services to groups that need it such as the elderly, people with determination, patients as well as pregnant women and others that meet the conditions.
It facilitates procedures and transactions in light of the digital transformation.
