Riyadh – Mubasher: Point of sale (POS) terminals in Saudi Arabia recorded a 22.8% growth in sales during 2019.

POS sales volume reached SAR 285.3 billion last year, compared with SAR 232 billion in 2018, as shown by the data of the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA).

The number of POS transactions increased by 56.5% year-on-year (YoY) to 1.6 billion transactions last year.

Moreover, the number of devices or terminals used increased by 20.7% YoY to 4.76 million devices.

In December, the value of POS sales increased by 25.1% YoY to SAR 27.73 billion, compared with SAR 22.3 billion in 2018.

The number of operations surged by 69.3% last month to 180.96 million sales transactions, compared with 107 million transactions in December 2018, data further showed.
