The Sultanate population has reached 4,418,519 in September compared to 4,421,663 in August this year. The Omani population has reached 2,784,785 accounting for 63.03 percent of the Sultanate’s population, according to data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).


The NCSI monthly statistics for September showed that the Sultanate’s population has decreased by 0.7 percent in September compared with August this year. In September, the number of the Omani population increased by 0.23 percent compared to August while the expatriate population decreased by 0.58 percent in September compared to August.


The statistics show that the expatriate population decreased by 9,596 by the end of September this year compared to August.


Muscat Governorate accounted for the highest number of the population at 1,267,390, of whom 43,7 percent are Omanis (553,231 Omanis and 714,159 expatriates).


North al Batinah Governorate came second in terms of population number at 780,899 and South al Batinah Governorate 465,405. Musandam Governorate and Al Wusta Governorate registered the lowest population numbers at 48,837 and 51,089, respectively.
