Tunisia - The goals of the national tourism strategy by 2035, its main axes and the projected programmes were at the centre of a cabinet meeting held on Wednesday at the Kasbah, in the presence of Prime Minister Najla Bouden Romdhane.
This strategy aims essentially at developing the tourist sector and reinforcing its role in economic, social and environmental development, particularly in the interior regions, says a press release issued by the Prime Ministry.
The aim is also to promote Tunisia as a competitive and sustainable tourist destination in the world, within the framework of a common vision between all the stakeholders in the sector.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister underlined the importance of working on the implementation of this strategy which should concern all the tourist products and all the regions in order to develop the services and to reinforce the employability and the competitiveness of the sector while taking into account the specificities of each region.
She also stressed the central role of the tourist sector in the development of economic and social development indicators.
For his part, Minister of Tourism, Mohamed Moez Belhassine, underlined, in a statement to the media at the end of the cabinet meeting, that the promotion of the competitiveness of the sector, the diversification of the tourist products, the investment and the promotion of the Tunisian destination are the main objectives of the national strategy of tourism by the year 2035.
This strategy also involves working on the sustainability of the sector so that it is capable of facing occasional crises such as the crisis of COVID-19, adopting an approach based on the sustainable management of tourist destinations, limiting the negative impacts on the sector and promoting positive results for the benefit of the inhabitants, the environment and the cultural heritage, he added.
