Italy’s Eni is planning to secure further imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Alegria for next winter, Bloomberg reported on January 14th.

The Rome-based energy firm is seeking to bring an additional 7 billion cubic meters of LNG to Italy in 2023 and 2024, CEO Claudio Descalzi remarked.

This step will help support Italy’s energy security and gradually stop dependence on Russian supplies, he said.

Descalzi previously unveiled that Algeria would supply Italy with natural gas in 2023.
