RABAT- Morocco plans to double its economic output per capita by 2035 to foster development, curb poverty and reduce social inequalities, a committee set up by King Mohammed VI said in a report on Wednesday.

Morocco has a population of about 37 million people, gross domestic product of $111 billion and per capita output of $3,000, with a quarter of the North African country's population poor or at risk of poverty, according to the World Bank.

The committee, which was set up in July 2019 to advise on development, has made recommendations to improve Morocco's agriculture, tourism, investments, renewable energy, education, health, digital services, and judiciary.

The report called for an efficient and result-driven public administration and for strengthening accountability to ensure implementation of the new development model.

"There is a consensus on the large-scale reforms that need to be implemented," the committee's head Chakib Benmoussa said.
