AMMAN — In implementation of His Majesty King Abdullah's Royal directives, the Cabinet on Tuesday decided to freeze the kerosene tax during the winter season to alleviate the burden on citizens, especially those in low-income households.

Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh previously underlined the government's commitment to implementing the Royal directive and reducing the price of kerosene if global prices drop, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

During a session chaired by Khasawneh, the Council of Ministers also approved the inclusion of companies owned by the Jordan Phosphate Mines Company (JPMC) under a previous decision of the Council of Ministers which stipulated that all production inputs belonging to the JPMC are industrial production inputs, and therefore do not require delivery permits from the Agriculture Ministry.

The Cabinet also approved the appointments of 100 employees to the Jordan-run Jerusalem Awqaf and Aqsa Affairs Department, with the exception of the department from recruitment regulations, in preparation for recruitment to its updated posts.

The decision is part of ongoing Jordanian support, under the leadership of His Majesty, to the department and its efforts in caring for Al Aqsa Mosque and the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem as part of the Hashemite custodianship over these holy sites.
