AMMAN — The Ministry of Labour has reinstated the employment of more than 3,000 workers — among them 1,191 teachers — out of 4,652 employees whose services were terminated in various fields.

The ministry said in a statement on Sunday that it has dealt with 33,147 labour complaints related to wages and the termination of workers’ services since the COVID-19 pandemic hit Jordan through the “Hemayeh” platform and its social media pages, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The statement said that ministry inspection teams are following up on all complaints related to the payment of wages and termination of services, adding that the number of establishments against which complaints were lodged during this period has reached 7,473 firms employing 296,562 workers.

A total of 5,181 establishments employing 274,966 workers showed commitment to paying workers’ wages during the coronavirus crisis, the statement added.
