Cairo –  The Egyptian Minister of Finance, Mohamed Maait, said that the efficiency of tax collection improved by 15% due to the use of electronic systems in the 2021 tax season, despite the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The new electronic filing system for the submission of tax returns saw a 91% growth in the number of registrations, with 45% more people submitting their tax returns compared with 2018.

In addition, tax revenues increased by 26.6% compared with 2020, the minister added.

Maait said that 1,842 companies completed the electronic documents, while more than 23.5 million e-bills have been presented.
