Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said that time is ripe for regional cooperation to launch all-out campaign against terrorism.
In a meeting with Iraqi President Fouad Masoum late Sunday, Zarif said that the Islamic Republic of Iran welcomes election of new prime minister of Iraq and hails it as an Iraqi decision.
Iran will certainly stand by the new Iraqi government, he said, reaffirming Irans full support to the new Iraqi administration.
Iran has stood by the Iraqi nation since the first day of terror attacks on the country by the self-styled ISIL, he said.
Zarif reiterated that the ISIL is not dangerous for Iraq alone; rather it is a threat to the entire region.
As we have stood by the Kurd and Shia brothers, we will remain beside the Sunni brothers, too, as we think that one the greatest victims of terrorism in Iraq are the Sunni brothers, he said.
Masoum, for his part, hailed cooperation among the Iraqi people -- the Shia and Sunni Muslims and the Kurdish population.
All in Iraq are consensus to set up a strong and powerful government in Iraq, the president said.
We thank Iran for supplying humanitarian assistance to Iraq to repel the terrorists, President Masoum said.
