JEDDAH: A world-renowned marketing strategist is to speak at a seminar that is to be attended by over 1,000 experts in marketing and management at the Dar Al-Hikma College in Jeddah on Saturday.
Professor Philip Kotler is to speak at the event -- "Strategic Marketing through Values and Principles" -- that is being sponsored by Minister of Commerce and Industry Abdullah Zainal Alireza.
The college's dean, Suhair Hassan Al-Qurashi, said the seven-hour seminar will be telecast live to the entire world through an electronic link between the college and 30 other universities in the US, Europe and other parts of the world. She added that Kotler will speak about his new marketing strategy which is aimed at saving the world from financial crises.
Al-Qurashi said Kotler has selected the Kingdom to launch the strategy because of its values and principles relating to financial transactions. "This has saved the Kingdom from the repercussions of the world's financial and economic crisis," she said.
She added that Kotler will sign an agreement with Dar Al-Hikma to be his sole strategic partner in the Middle East and will open the Al-Hikma-Kotler Center for marketing research and capacity building.
Dr. Magdi Al-Sahhaf, a representative of the Authority for Saudi Industrial Cities, said the Kingdom's industrial cities have 3,000 industrial facilities with a workforce of more than 250,000 people. "These facilities will greatly benefit from what Kotler will say," he added.
Born in 1931 in Chicago, Kotler teaches international marketing at the Kellog School of Management at Northwestern University. He has written a number of books and has come up with a number of marketing theories including: demarketing, megamarketing, turbomarketing and synchromarketing.
