SHARJAH, 28th December, 2013 (WAM) -- Writers associations in the UAE and Egypt will launch the culture forum against terrorism as a joint cultural initiative next year.
Habib Al Sayegh, Chairman of the Emirates Writers Union, and Mohammed Salmawi Chairman of the Egyptian Writers Union, announced the initiative today at a joint press conference in the presence of a crowd of Emirati, Egyptian and Arab media representatives. Al Sayegh said the forum first edition would be held in Abu Dhabi next May and is open for all Arab writers and men of letters. He added that initiative was built on the longstanding historic and strategic ties between the UAE and Egypt which are facing common challenges including the intellectual terrorism. The forum, he said, will have a joint secretariat general and launch a website and account on social media networks. For his part, Salmawi said the writers in the two brotherly countries will form the first defence line against the eminent danger of terrorism the Arab Nation is facing. The Emirates Writers Union held its second national conference on Thursday under the patronage of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah and honorary President of the Emirates Writers Union.Copyright Emirates News Agency (WAM) 2013.
