MUSCAT, 22ndJuly 2007 (WAM)--The list of final geographical co-ordinates and the mapping delineating the final line of the border between the United Arab Emirates and the Sultanate of Oman between east of Oqaidat and Al Dara, on the Arabian Gulf, were signed here today.
Lt.-General Saif Abdullah Al Sha'afar, the Under Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, signed for the UAE side, while Mohammed bin Sultan Albusaidi, Under Secretary of the Omani Ministry of Interior, signed on behalf of Oman. The border line extends for a distance of 272 kilometres in this sector and has been marked out on the ground with major and minor border posts. As a result of this agreement, the United Arab Emirates has now completed the delineation of all of its land borders with the Sultanate of Oman. The border from Umm az-Zamul to east of Oqaidat has already been delineated, in accordance with the agreement signed between the two countries in Sohar on 1st May 1999. The remaining issue to be solved is the technical definition of the tri-partite meeting point in the Umm az-Zamul area between the United Arab Emirates, the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Saudi ArabiaCopyright Emirates News Agency (WAM) 2008.
