Toshiba, the Japanese electronics giant, will introduce its latest models of notebooks in the Middle East at the Gitex technology exhibition in Riyadh.

To commemorate its twentieth anniversary of notebook manufacturing, the company has launched two models that set the standard for the industry.

The Portge R200, the thinnest wireless-enabled notebook in the world, weighing only 1.3 kilograms, will be on the Toshiba stand.

Libretto, the ultra-compact sub-notebook that was reintroduced because of popular demand, is expected to be released in the region soon.

For the first time, Toshiba machines featuring its new EasyGuard reliability and usability technology, the Portge M300, the Tecra A4, Tecra M3, Tecra A3 and Tecra S2, will be displayed at Gitex Riyadh.

According to a press release issued yesterday, Toshiba has sold 37 million notebooks in the 20 years.

Toshiba sparked off the mobile computing revolution when it introduced the T1100 in 1985.
