Iraqi Stabbed In Beach Fight
KUWAIT CITY, Dec 11: The emergency team of Mubarak Al-Kabeer municipal branch raided a foodstuffs factory in Sabhan and confiscated 2.43 tons of food and grains not suitable for human consumption, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
Director of Mubarak Al-Kabeer municipal branch Sharida Al-Mutairi said a large quantity of meat and other foodstuff expired in August 2010 and added that the team destroyed the entire stuff.
The team also removed 500 illegal billboards from the area.
Makeshift groceries razed: The emergency team of Ahmadi municipal branch launched a campaign in camping areas in Julia'a and Mina Abdullah and demolished 10 unlicensed groceries set up in prefabricated structures and removed three tents, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily. The team also confiscated eight tons of expired foodstuffs from the groceries.
Scribe sues top cop: Journalist Mohammad Sandan Al-Mutairi lodged a complaint against a senior police officer who allegedly assaulted him in the diwaniya of MP Jamaan Al-Harbash in Al-Sulaibikhat while he was covering a seminar, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily. Sandan said police dragged him outside the diwaniya and beat him with sticks.
Suicide attempted: A Kuwaiti inmate serving a 13-year jail term tried in vain to kill himself by slitting his wrist with a razor, reports Al-Anba daily. He was rushed to Farwaniya Hospital for treatment and a case of attempted suicide was registered against him.
Iraqi stabbed in beach fight: A 24-year-old Iraqi was stabbed in the chest after engaging in a public brawl with five youths in Julaia beach.
Paramedics and securitymen were deployed to the location after the Operations Room received information on the incident. They took the Iraqi to Adan Hospital, while the other youths were referred to a nearby police station for questioning.
Septuagenarian held: Hawally securitymen arrested a 70-year-old Kuwaiti for consuming alcohol along Fahaheel Road on Saturday.
Security officers and paramedics rushed to the location after the Operations Room received a call from a passerby, who saw the Kuwaiti sleeping inside his car and thought he needed medical assistance. The rescue team was, however, surprised when they discovered the Kuwaiti was under the influence of alcohol. They woke him up and referred him to the concerned security department for the necessary legal action.
Drugs found in car: Farwaniya securitymen arrested a Kuwaiti for consuming drugs with 264 narcotic pills and three rolls of hashish in his possession. The securitymen noticed a speeding vehicle, so they signaled for the driver -- a Kuwaiti -- to pull over for inspection. When the officers demanded for his identification documents, they realized the Kuwaiti was under the influence of drugs. This prompted them to check his car thoroughly, resulting in the discovery of 264 narcotic pills and three rolls of hashish. He was referred to the relevant security department for prosecution.
In a similar incident, police arrested a Kuwaiti for the possession of five narcotic pills. While on duty along King Fahad Road, the securitymen noticed that the Kuwaiti looked agitated when he reached the checkpoint. They then inspected his car and found five narcotic pills. They referred the Kuwaiti to the concerned security department for the necessary legal action.
