Dubai: The 55 million square foot golfing community Tiger Woods Dubai has signed a Dh150 million contract with Dutco Balfour Beatty (DBB) to completion the commercial buildings.

Under the contract, DBB will finish the Al Ruwaya Clubhouse, Al Ruwaya Golf Academy, three on-course sanctuaries and the golf maintenance complex.

The contract focuses on the external construction and major interior fit out.

DBB began mobilising works on The Tiger Woods Dubai site in July and there should be 500 people working on site by the end of this month.

The Al Ruwaya Clubhouse is 145,000 square feet and is the centrepiece of the whole development. It will also house a Tiger Woods memorabilia gallery, a themed restaurant and a 2,200 square foot retail space.

The golf academy will be staffed by PGA instructors and surrounded by a practice range and a short game area.

DBB, a member of the Dutco Group, has been working with the Dh4 billion Tiger Woods Dubai project since its launch in 2007.

The focus of the development is the 18-hole championship golf course, designed by Tiger Woods himself. Only 200 memberships are to be given out worldwide and memberships cost a cool $250,000 per year.

"We are extremely pleased with the successful execution of our agreement with The Tiger Woods Dubai. It is an honour to be a partner in such an ambitious and prestigious project. These buildings & are welcome additions to our portfolio of leisure projects in the region," said Zeyad Baker, executive director of construction at Dutco.
