Abu Dhabi, 10 Dec. 2012 (WAM) -- National Geographic Al Arabiya Magazine has rewarded Ahmed Al Dahouri, the young Emirati star of the award-winning film ''The Turtle'' which produced by National Media Council for the three-month Expo 2012 Yeosu, Korea, with a free annual subscription of the magazine.
The environmental film, made in light of the UAE?s decision to ban plastic bags by 2013, has won the Gold Dolphin award at the Cannes Corporate and TV festival for 2012. The Turtle was also awarded the Silver Medal at EXPO 2012 Yeosu, Korea. In "The Turtle," the young star dreams that his country will bring in a plastic bag ban to save marine turtles. It showcases the importance of pollution-free seas, aligning with the Yeosu Expo theme, "Living Ocean and Coasts" and warns about the dangers of extinction these turtles are facing from plastic bag pollution and the importance of preserving these turtles and the environment in general. Mohamed Al Hammadi, Editor in Chief of National Geographic Al Arabiya Magazine, said - after meeting Al Dahouri - that the young star was granted the annual subscription in recognition of his impressive efforts and care for the environment and wildlife and his plea for all community members to contribute to protection of the natural environment.
