Talabat, the largest food delivery service in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), has appointed Tomaso Rodriguez as its new CEO.

A successful entrepreneur, start-up enthusiast, and venture capitalist, Rodriguez is a seasoned professional with a global track record in driving the operations and management of online service delivery platforms.

In his new position, Rodriguez will be responsible for ramping up Talabat’s presence in the region, building new strategic partnerships, and consolidating the company as the premier online food-ordering company by expanding into new offline-to-online ventures.

Rodriguez said: "Our journey is just beginning. Talabat is, and always will be, a customer-centric company. Our mission is to help people and communities enjoy moments that matter through technology, starting with an integrated food-delivery service that puts people’s happiness and satisfaction at the core of its business.”

Prior to joining Talabat, Rodriguez worked at Singapore-based Grab, Southeast Asia’s leading super app and most valuable start-up. He headed Grab’s food division and was credited with growing the food delivery business from one city to a massive presence in over 200 cities in just 18 months. Previously, he was head of UberEATS’ regional operations – APAC, and general manager of a global car-hailing app in Italy and Greece.

Rodriguez started his career as an investor with 360 capital partners, a European fund with $500 million under its management, and later founded a start-up named AgencyManagement in Italy. He holds an MBA in strategic marketing from Collège des Ingénieurs, a Harvard Business School Executive Education in Organisational Leadership, and a master’s degree in management engineering from Università Degli Studi di Padova. - TradeArabia News Service
