ERBIL - A member of PM Maliki's State of Law Coalition said Iraq's President Jalal Talabani is a symbol of the country's unity, praising him for returning the signatures collected for withdrawing confidence from the PM.
Talabani said the collected signatures amounted to 160, not enough for the legal quorum of 164. For that reason Talabani decided not to send the signatures to the House of Representatives and returned them to the Kurdistan Region's presidency.
Nada Sudani said: "Talabani has proved that he is protector of Iraq's constitution and he works for the country's unity."
Sudani added that Maliki's coalition will participate in any meeting if all of Iraq's parties attend it.
She asked for airing the meetings on TV channels to show the content to Iraq's citizens in an upfront manner.
Iraqi political parties who support the withdrawal of confidence from Maliki started a meeting in Erbil today to discuss new methods for achieving their aim.
