Syrian Liquids Output Slips To 405,000 B/D
Syria’s liquids production is averaging 405,000 b/d, down from 485,000 b/d in 2004 and 590,000 b/d in 1996, according to the Director General of the Syrian Petroleum Company (SPC) Ahmad Mualla. Total production comprises 193,000 b/d from SPC, 160,000 b/d from al-Furat Petroleum Company (AFPC), 35,000 b/d from Deir al-Zour Oil Company, plus 17,000 b/d of condensates. Dr Mualla added that SPC has made 12 oil and gas discoveries in the past five years and that total discovered reserves had reached 45.7mn cu ms of oil and 25 bcm of gas. SPC has so far drilled some 3,000 wells in 198 existing and new fields. Last November SPC estimated its output of liquids at 425,000 b/d (MEES, 14 November 2005).
