Tehran - President Bashar al-Assad on Tuesday sent a message to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran tackling regional and international issues of mutual concern and bilateral relations between the two countries.

The message was conveyed by Vice President Farouk al-Shara during a meeting with the Iranian President in Tehran.

Talks during the meeting dealt with the dangerous repercussions of the Israeli occupation forces' aggression on the Freedom Flotilla in the international waters.

Viewpoints were identical on the necessity of ending the Israeli siege imposed on Gaza, and forming an international committee to investigate and adopt the needed procedures in defense of the international law and the international humanitarian law.

The two sides underlined the importance of the tripartite agreement signed between Iran, Turkey and Brazil in Tehran that reflects the peaceful stances of Iran in the nuclear issue.

The Talks also stressed the importance of the Iraqi national unity for the Iraqi people's full independence and the best future in light of their Arab belonging.

Both sides also discussed the rapidly developed bilateral relations in all domains in the interests of the two friendly courtiers and Arab and Islamic nations.

Iranian Vice President Mohammad Riza Rahimi and Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki attended the meeting.

Earlier, al-Shara discussed with Rahimi a number of current issues of mutual concern for the two countries.

Both sides underlined the need for pushing bilateral relations between the two friendly countries forwards.

Al-Shara started a visit to Tehran afternoon in the last leg of a tour during which he conveyed messages from President al-Assad to the leaders of Libya, Algeria, Sudan and Iran.

Presidents al-Assad and Ahmadinejad held talks in Damascus in February 2010 during which they affirmed the need to bolster cooperation between the two countries in all fields.

Syria and Iran also signed an agreement to cancel entry visas between the two countries during Ahmadinejad's visit.

The 11th session of the Syrian-Iranian Higher Committee, which was held in Tehran in March, resulted in signing several memos of understanding and cooperation programs in the fields of culture, planning and labor, in addition to a number of joint projects.
