Abu Dhabi, Jan 28th, 2008 (WAM): The Gulf NYK, a UAE-Japanese joint venture, unveiled high-tech desalination apparatus, which will convert extremely saline sea water into pure drinking water containing high level of oxygen.

The preview presentation ceremony organised at the Zayed Free Port on Monday was attended by Director General of Abu Dhabi Distribution Company Ahmed Saeed Al Muraikhi, officials from NYK-Japan, the Japanese ambassador to UAE Takoma Hatano and a large number of senior officials and members of economic institutions in Abu Dhabi.

Managing Director of Gulf NYK Khalid Nasser Al Junaibi said that this generation of the small-sized desalination machine is capable of transforming sea water into potable water in a fast manner, and thus will accelerate the infrastructure and development in the country. He said the new company will import high-tech desalination machines for marketing them at the domestic and regional level.

Meanwhile, Director of Relief and Emergency operations at the Red Crescent Authority (RCA) Abdullah Ali Al Housni said that he will prepare a study about the new generation machine and will asses the possibility whether it can be used for its various relief works at times of natural disasters.
