Ras Al Khaiamh, April 13th,2007 (WAM) -- The National Theaterof Ras Al Khaimah has named Brigadier Sheikh Talib bin Saqr AlQasimi, Director of Ras Al Khaimah Police, the cultural, theatricalpersonality for 2006 in recognition of his contributions forthe cultural and theatrical movement in the emirate.
Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and DeputyRuler of Ras Al Khaimah, presented the award shield to SheikhTalib during special ceremony hosted by the Ras Al Khaimah NationalTheatre at the emirate's Cultural Centre.
''Sheikh Talib was selected for the honour from among agroup of prominent national cultural characters following anexhaustive study of his dedicated efforts to enrich the culturaland theatrical movement in the country........he made every effortto serve culture and theatre and support creativity,'' said AbdullahSalim bin Yaqoub, Chairman of the National Theatre.
According to him, Sheikh Talib was the founder of theschool theatre and the police magazine (Vigilant Eye).
''Sheikh Talib is looking forward for grooming a well-educatedand enlightened generation equipped with the best, diverse sourcesof international knowledge and sciences to build a promisingfuture of the country,''he added.
The 2005 award was conferred on Sheikh Abdullah binZayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, while that of 2004 went toSheikh Saud.
