Syrian Presidential Political and Media Advisor Dr. Bouthaina Shaaban on Thursday described President Bashar al-Assad's talks with French President Nicolas Sarkozy as very positive covering all issues.
In a statement to the reporters, Dr. Shaaban said the talks were marked by confidence which was expressed by President Sarkozy in his applauding of Syria's role in supporting stability and peace in the region.
"Presidents al-Assad and Sarkozy were very content over the discussions which constitute a new add to the relationship," added Dr. Shaaban, pointing out that the topics related to the Middle East were also on the table.
She noted that President al-Assad stressed that Lebanon's security and stability are without doubt in Syria's interest and serve its stability, and that the Syrian-Lebanese relations are in both countries' interest.
"There is agreement that the situation in Lebanon is difficult...and we hope it gets better for the good of the Lebanese," she concluded.
