Dubai-headquartered Seven Seas Computers is deploying an ERP solution developed for the hotel sector at Sri Lanka's Connaissance Holdings, a publicly listed hotel group. The deployment at three of Connaissance's hotels plus the head office will be done over the next four months or so.
The 'momentohs' hotel management system was developed in-house by Seven Seas Computers at its facilities in Dubai and Sri Lanka.
The project took nearly two years, and the beta version was tested out at a property in Singapore last year.
The first full implementation was also done last year for a Malaysian property group.
"The new solution follows on from our efforts to develop ERP based packages for dedicated industries, and follows those done for the shipping and cargo sector and another for garment manufacturers," said M.N.C. Ray, director of software assets and projects, Seven Seas.
"Going forward, we plan to add to our offerings by bringing out document management solutions for the hospitality sector."
On average, the new solution costs between $75,000 and $100,000 depending on the number of hotels involved and the type of modules.
The Sri Lankan project will see Seven Seas implement momentohs at the Culture Club Dambulla, Le Kandyan Kandy and Reef Comber Hotel Hikka-duwa, which will be connected to the Connaissance head office in Colombo.
These will run the 'central reservations' module', while the individual hotels will run the 'front office', 'back office' and the 'food and beverages' modules.
Further hotels will be included in Phase Two.
Momentohs integrates the such functions as the front office, housekeeping, food and beverage, event management, call billing and analysis, back office, Web reservations and central reservations modules into one central database, providing seamless integration between these once independent functional areas.
The open architecture enables momentohs to interact with many various third-party devices such as the property's PABX (Telephone Exchange Management) and Windows-based point-of-sale (PoS) systems.
Mehboob Hamza, director of strategy and intellectual assets, said: "We are delighted to be selected by Connaissance among stiff competition and it is a clear signal to the marketplace that momentohs leads the way in defining the new paradigms in hospitality management software. This is our second major win, the other being the Residence Hotels and Resorts in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia."
The Dubai company now has plans to market the solutions to hotels in the UAE and South Africa, with Canada also considered a prospective market.
