RABAT, Apr. 23rd, 2009: The International Meeting on "Justice and Peace in the Holy Scriptures" called for collecting religious texts in the Holy Scriptures which advocate the values of justice and peace, and publishing them in an illustrated textbook. Similarly, the meeting has called for gathering some important texts in literary and philosophical heritage and publishing them in another textbook.
At the close of their proceedings, the prominent scholars, intellectuals and academics, who took part in the meeting, commended ISESCOs initiative to publish a reference guide to teachers on the integration of the values of peace and justice into school curricula. They also called upon ISESCO to translate this guide into foreign languages to ensure wide access thereto.
This international meeting also urged local community institutions and associations to step up their efforts to counteract hatred, racism and conflict, promote cooperation and understanding among civilizations and cultures and disseminate the peace and justice culture. The meeting was held under the high patronage of Tunisian President, Mr Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, at the invitation of the Ben Ali Chair for the Dialogue of Civilisations and Religions, of the Tunis Al Manar University, in association with the Marseille-Provence- Mediterranean- Tunis cooperation commission. The opening ceremony of the meeting was presided over by the Tunisian Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Technology, who made an address in which he underlined Tunisias options consecrated by the head of State in dialogue of civilizations and religions, and coexistence among peoples based on the culture of moderation, justice and peace.
