The project, part of SRO's long-term strategy, involves construction of hotels, metro and bus stops, multi-storey car park and other services as well.

Saudi Railways Organization (SRO) has completed the prequalification process for the new train station project in the eastern port of Dammam, Saudi Arabia, according to a media report on Tuesday.

"We have completed the prequalification process for the new Dammam train station. We now plan to discuss the investment possibilities with the private sector," said Mohammed Al Suwaiket, President at SRO.

The Dammam station project involves two phases, said the Arabic daily Okaz.

"The construction of train stations constitutes the first phase whereas the second phase involves providing the nearby sites to private sectors for investment to build hotels, metro and bus stops, multi-storey car park and other services," he said.

The organization plans to build train stations in other Saudi cities, including Riyadh and the eastern towns of Abqaiq and Alhofouf.

SRO's long-term development strategy stretching until 2030 involves the construction of 19 rail networks with a combined length of 9,900 kilometers, said Suwaiket.
