Muscat: The Information Technology Authority's (ITA) Sas Programme for Entrepreneurship is promoting innovative ideas and solutions of startups in the information and communication technology (ICT) field through the Sas48H contest, the first of its kind in Oman.

Sas48H is a weekend event held for 48 hours focusing on the development of new web services and mobile services.

The event targets programmers and mobile app developers, web developers, designers, visionary entrepreneurs/project managers, and marketers.

The Sas 48H event idea is taken from the Estonian initiative - Garage 48 that started in the Republic of Estonia in April 2010, and it has expanded to other countries.

The event is being organised by the ITA with the cooperation of the Garage 48 team from Estonia.

It aims to nurture the culture of entrepreneurship among Omani youth, encourage champions to think creatively and establish new businesses, focus on developing startup companies in the most demanded sectors - nowadays - mobile apps and create and develop Omani products and promote Intellectual Property.

Altogether 100 participants from different backgrounds and skills, ranging from software development to design, marketing, sales and entrepreneurship, will enter the competition to make an idea a reality in 48 hours of continuous work.

During these 48 hours there will be mentors to support participants in business skills and technical issues. The event will be held at AlMouj Golf, The Wave, Muscat, from September 18 to 20, between 3pm and 8pm.

You can sign up now and get more details about Sas 48H through www.sas.om/sas48.
