MUSCAT -- D K Saraogi, Executive President and Head Oman, Jindal Shadeed Iron & Steel (JSIS), Sohar yesterday initiated the 'go live' of the SAP ERP solution installed at the steel complex. Shishir Akhouri, VP-Project, was also present along with the process owners.
With the launch of the SAP system, legacy systems have been phased out and all business users will manage their work based on SAP configured and customised processes. Jindal's implementation partner IBM India completed this project in a record 18 weeks. JSIS had implemented major modules like Material Management, Finance, Costing, Project System, Plant Maintenance, Production & Planning, Quality Management, Sales and Distribution, and Human Resource Management in the first phase.
"By implementing ERP solution we will manage and operate our growing business to cover major process areas like managing online services and solutions: "Procure to Pay" -- Purchase cycle to making payment against raised invoice, "Order to Cash" -- Taking sale orders to making payment, "Production to Execution" -- Taking sale order to manufacturing, "Hire To Retire" -- Employee recruitment, development and retirement plan, "Invest for Asset" -- For creating new asset and investment, "Equipment Maintenance" -- Scheduled planned and break down maintenance, "Finance, Budgeting, Fund Management & Annual Closing".
Inderjit Singh, Project Manager from IBM India, and Ajay Dave, Project Manager from JSIS Oman, led their respective teams in implementing SAP. Group affiliate Jindal Info Solutions co-ordinated the entire complex process.
With the implementation of SAP, business users will get access to ESS (Employee Self Services), MSS (Manager Self Services) and uniform reporting system tools.
The SAP design and solutions are scalable and enough to meet the company's future expansion initiatives and investment plans.
