The Saif Al Ghurair Group is in an expansion mode as it plans to open more shopping malls in the UAE and other GCC countries.
"We are now heading towards opening specialised shopping malls in selected areas," said Majid Al Ghurair, group CEO.
"Reef Mall is an example of our new concept of neighbourhood shopping malls catering to communities in particular areas.
"We are planning to open more such malls in different selected areas of Dubai, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah and Abu Dhabi," he said, adding that the group is also targeting other GCC countries, especially Saudi Arabia as it has great potential.
He did not reveal details regarding the number of new shopping malls in future. He said small community malls are in fashion but they would also go for big shopping complexes.
Talking to reporters during a media tour of Reef Mall, Al Ghurair said: "This mall has filled a gap for customers in Deira seeking a specialised shopping area."
Built at a cost of Dh200 million, the two-level shopping mall, which extends over 250,000 square feet, has around 90 stores offering brands with a reputation for quality at highly affordable prices.
Eisa Adam Ebrahim, executive manager of the Saif Al Ghurair Group and general manager of Reef Mall, said: "This retail project brings many popular home grown and well loved brands to Deira for the first time."
He said the Reef Mall is positioned as a neighbourhood mall with a retail mix designed to complement rather than compete with current offerings in the area, thus bringing added convenience to the Deira neighbourhood.
A food court with eight restaurants, fun city for children, cafes, supermarket and a number of branded shops offering everything from household goods and fashion to electronics and cosmetic items are the main attractions.
Reef Mall has a contemporary, modern architectural elegance with innovative design details and techniques used to create a relaxed yet exciting and spacious open-plan interior.
The faade of the mall reflects architectural sophistication while the internal landscape features a mix of high glass panelling, elevators, escalators and open spaces.
