BAGHDAD, June 20 (KUNA) -- A reconstruction exhibition commenced here Friday as part of expositions organized by the Iraqi-US Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The move aims to provide contracts for companies and job opportunities for jobless people at al-Rasafa area, east of Baghdad.
Sponsored by the al-Rasafa Municipal Council, the two-day al-Rasafa Reconstruction Exhibition is mainly meant to discuss ways and means of bolstering and beefing up the economic movement at al-Rasafa area in Baghdad and to promote development projects.
According to its organizers, the event will seek to remove obstacles and barriers impeding reconstruction efforts at the area, and to mull over the role of public and private institutions in such efforts.
The exhibition has attracted over 100 Iraqi companies situated at al-Rasafa, local reconstruction teams and representatives of the Multinational Forces' contracting command in the Gulf region, the organizers said.
Speaking to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Majuid Michel, deputy CEO of the Iraqi-US Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said the event was intended to give an opportunity to those participating companies to get acquainted with each other and to win al-Rasafa reconstruction bids.
This is the third reconstruction exhibition mounted in the capital city of Baghdad following two similar events in al-Karada and Azamiya cities.
