Local music talent will get the chance of a lifetime at the upcoming Dubai Music Week as some of the world’s biggest kingmakers crown an Arab crossover star.

Legendary producer Quincy Jones, along with best-selling producers will.i.am and Timbaland, will pick an artist or band from the region to groom them for global stardom on the second day, September 25, of the six-day event at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

Jones will also lead a panel discussion that day, joined by will.i.am and Timbaland, exploring the evolution of music production in an event called The Producers Panel.

The seminar will be followed by performances by artists and bands nominated by music executives from Sony, Universal Music and A&R. Jones will then pick a winner and he will help them produce a song and music video through his joint venture company the Global Gumbo Group, in partnership with Sony Music Middle East.

“Will and Timbaland are two of today’s most sought after young producers and I am thrilled that they will be joining me to share our perspectives on the state of music and producing today with our attendees,” said Jones.

Dubai Music Week, which kicks off on September 24, will also see exhibitions and forums along with performances by will.i.am, Timbaland and Selena Gomez.
