Doha-based Qatar Chemical Company (QChem) has invited bids for engineering, procurement, installation and construction (EPIC) of a zero liquid discharge (ZLD) to sea project at Ras Lafan Olefins Company (RLOC) plant in Ras Laffan, northeast of Qatar.

Tender documents can be purchased for a cash fee of QAR 1,000 (USD 275) until July 10, 2014, with the deadline for submission of technical bids set on September 14, 2014 and commercial bids on October 26 of this year.

A tender bond for USD 912,500 with a bank validity of 180 days must also accompany the bids.

The project comes on the heels of the Qatari government's sustainability efforts. By the end of 2016, the Gulf state aims to achieve zero liquid discharge of processed wastewater through initiatives such as the construction of wastewater treatment plans and the use of innovative technology to recycle and reuse water.
