Doha: Qatar National Bank (QNB), the country's leading financial institution, has been selected as the Best Internet Bank in the Middle East and Africa region for its web design and integrated site by Global Finance, the New York-based financial magazine.

A news release said in all, QNB won four Global Finance awards, including Best Integrated Corporate, Institutional Bank Site in Middle East and Africa, Best Web Design in Middle East and Africa, Best Consumer Internet Bank in Qatar and Best Corporate and Institutional Internet Bank in Qatar.

QNB was selected from several regional bank contenders through a selection process by a world-class judging panel comprising senior representatives from the information technology industry and editors of Global Finance.

Talking about the accolades, Ali Sherif Al Emadi, Acting Chief Executive of QNB, said: "This honour bestowed by Global Finance is a proud moment for QNB. With the world moving fast towards technologically-driven banking channels, it was always our endeavour at QNB to continually develop and improve our online services. This award is a reflection of our advanced and secure internet-based banking tool, built to a world-class standard."

They include e-Statements and on-line alerts, which QNB was the first to offer in Qatar.
