DOHA - The Qatar Museums Authority (QMA) is working on a project to renovate the Qatar National Museum, located on the Doha Corniche, which remains closed for several years, a senior QMA official said.

"The museum is closed for maintenance and renovation. There will be a new design and several added facilities when the renovation is completed,: Faisal Abdullah Al Nuaimi, head of Antiquities at QMA said. The museum, the oldest facility of its kind in the city will be reopened for the public when the work is completed. He, however, didn't give any time frame.

The QMA also looks after the new Museum of Islamic Arts located off the Doha Corniche, the Al Khor Museum, Al Zubarah, among other museums and historical sites in the country.
