DOHA: LULU Hypermarket Group announced yesterday the signing of long-term contract to operate the new mega shopping mall to be built in Al Khor.

The cost of the project is QR80m and is expected to be operative be the third quarter of 2007.

Once completed the new Al Khor Mall will be the biggest ever built outside Doha, it will have some of the best shopping and recreations features for the discerning shoppers of Qatar.

With the state of the art design and international standard mega hypermarket, the mall will also have multiplexes, amusement areas, food court, theme restaurants and cafes and more than 100 international branded outlets all to be constructed on more than 37,000 square meters on the most strategic location, next to the Leaders Academy at the end of Doha-Al Khor coastal road.

Sheikh Abdulla bin Ahmed bin Jassim Al Thani signed the contract on behalf of the New Mall's owners with Yusuffali M A, managing Director of Lulu Hypermarket Group at a special ceremony held earlier this week.

"The new project comes in line with the directives of the Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani to extend more modern facilities and expand new societies," said Sheikh Abdulla. "The new Al Khor Mall will be the first of a kind and will set a new benchmark for the modern shopping malls in Qatar, providing a life style experience in both shopping and entertainment and recreational facilities for all the people in our country ".

"This is indeed a proud moment for our group today and we are looking forward to bringing the finest shopping and entertainment facility for the residents of Qatar," said Yusuffali.
 
"We are laying special emphasis on the interior designs and layout to make this mall a very distinctive themed shopping centre in the strategically important Al Khor area.
