Doha: Motorists and pedestrians in Doha will shortly see entertaining and informative advertisements that would sometimes include colourful graphics and sounds, following the launch of Ads on Autos, a new division of the Doha-based company, Ads Art.

The new company is first of the four planned to be opened by Ads Art and Ads on Autos is introducing the concept of mobile advertising on the roads for the first time in Qatar.

At a presentation held at the Ritz-Carlton, Doha yesterday to mark the launch, Mazen Corban, general manager, Ads Art, said that Ads on Roads will offer advertising on vehicles such as trucks and large pick-ups.

A client can choose the kind of advertisement they want, such as rotating, static or three dimensional -- which is projected on giant screens mounted on vehicles.

These vehicles will move around the roads of Doha between 9am and 1pm and 4pm to 10.30pm from Saturday to Wednesday.

On Thursday, such advertising vehicles can be seen around from 10am to 1pm and 4pm to 11pm while on Friday, they will be on the roads between 5pm and 10pm.

A company advertising through this new media can also select the time and places where these trucks could drive, to reach out to the maximum possible audience, Mazen added.

Ads on Autos currently has a fleet of 11 assorted vehicles which will be increased to 21 within the next couple of weeks, he added.

Ads Art, the parent company, was established in 2002 and plans to launch four new divisions, including Ads on Autos.

The company's chairman is Sheikh Mohammad bin Suhaim Al Thani. The presentation was also attended by visitors from the UAE, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.

Mazen, quoting figures issued by the Outdoor Advertising Association of America (OAAA) said, 91 per cent of consumers notice advertisements displayed on trucks while 74 per cent develop an impression about any company based on the quality of graphics their mobile advertising carries and 29 per cent of customers base their buying decisions on vehicle graphics.

He said that research by the OAAA had also shown that mobile advertising creates a positive impression with between 500 and 600 consumers per every mile.
